Governor Greg Abbott's top consumer attorneys built a $5.4M case against Donald Trump, but it never happened
The Trump University debacle just took another nasty turn for the presumptive GOP candidate for president and a new report shows that Trump resorted to bribing politicians in order get away with scamming Americans.

The Associated Press reports that Donald Trump allegedly donated $35,000 to Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s 2012 gubernatorial campaign after then-Texas Attorney General Abbott dropped the state’s case against Trump University.

As Texas’ AG, Abbott’s office had opened a civil investigation into Trump U’s “possibly deceptive trade practices” in the state, but agreed to quietly drop the case after the organization agreed to leave Texas. Abbott’s office built a $5.4 million settlement case against Trump’s organization for duping Texan Trump U students out of $2.6 million, but the case was never filed.

Subsequently, after the case was quietly buried, Trump dropped the sizeable donation into Abbott’s campaign coffers.

But the plot thickens. Abbott wasn’t the only Republican Attorney General to receive a large campaign donation after dropping the case against Trump U.

Pam Bondi, Florida’s Republican Attorney General, also once considered joining a multi-state suit against Trump’s organization.

But just three days after Bondi’s spokesperson publicly said they were reviewing the case, the Donald J. Trump Foundation dropped $25,000 into Bondi’s campaign Super PAC for her re-election and Bondi said she wouldn’t pursue the matter due to lack of evidence.

And Trump himself also admitted earlier last year as he was getting his presidential campaign started that large donations like these mean he can get a politician to do anything he wants,

Put simply, Trump is a con artist who has benefited greatly by being wealthy enough to manipulate the American justice system. But once again, just like with his fake business school, he is duping Americans into believing he has their best interests at heart, when really, he’s just looking out for himself as usual.

Because Trump can’t bribe his way out of his federal civil fraud suit this time, it’s no wonder he’s resorting to racist attacks against U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel. It’s Custer’s last stand,.

John Owens, former deputy director of Abbott’s Consumer Protection Division, alleges the decision was purely political that left Texas consumers “high and dry” with no recourse:
